Construction and property development firm Diploma Group has announced a $44 million contract win with Rio Tinto, to build a 244-person camp at Paraburdoo.

The contract includes earthworks and demolition to prepare the site, as well as design and construction of the workers camp.

Diploma chief executive Nick Di Latte said the company was delighted to secure its first contract with Rio Tinto and was hopeful of building the relationship in the future.

"The group has recently completed a review of operations and this project win is another step in the execution of that strategic review by focusing on and securing more regional construction opportunities in Western Australia."

The project is expected to be completed by May 2013.
