It was the convict bushranger Moondyne Joe's amazing ability to escape every time he was placed behind bars that won him fame and the affection of the early settlers rather than gunfights or robbing banks. Wearing a kangaroo-skin cape and possum-skin slippers, he found freedom in the wooded valleys and winding creeks of Toodyay. He is reputed to have hidden out in a bush valley that is now part of Moondyne Caravan Park.
The owners of Moondyne Caravan Park & Chalets, Lesley & kevin Hug have retained the natural bush hideaway that gives Perth residents and travellers an ideal escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. A retreat where you can relax and unwind.
To improve on the visitor experience the Hugs engaged Brighthouse to design a "Master Plan" for the upgrade and extension of the existing park. The plan retains all the best natural features and bush environment while providing new facilities and comfortable amenities.
The plan will be stages over a number of years, eventually providing family caravan and camping sites, quality and budget accommodation and retirement park homes.
